The diffference between an upstander and a bystander is that an upstander sees the wrong and works to make it right and a bystander sees the wrong and does nothing. It is important to be a upstander in every day life even though it may be hard. If you can't stand up for someone else, how can people stand up for you

The difference between an upstander and a bystander is that an upstander sees something that is bad, and chooses to do something about it. A bystander also sees what is going on, but chooses to do nothing about the problem.

An upstander does what is right and stands up for what is good and fights what is wrong. An upstander goes against an unjustice whenever he (or she) sees it and helps the weak and discriminated. a bystander just watches from afar. A bystander may think "I wish I could help, but I would get hurt too". An upstander wouldn't think twice about helping someone in need.

An upstander is someone who stands up for what is right, even if it is hard or will make them a target for predudice. A bystander is someone who may or may not know what is right, but doesn't try to figure it out.

Upstanders and bystanders. Two very different things.

An upstander will protect the abused or bullied, the persecuted and ridiculed. They will go out of their way to save one life, or many lives. They make a big difference, no matter how many people. I remember a saying from the Holocaust Museum... something along the lines of, "If you save one life, you save a whole universe."

A bystander, on the other hand, the person who stands on the side and watches a person be persecuted. Whatever is going through their heads, whatever they are thinking, they are not helping the situation. Maybe they can or cannot do anything, but the action of NOT doing anything is impacting both the bullied and the bully.
In their own way, they are letting the bad happen, and continue to happen with no way to stop it.

"The world......

I forgot the quote I was going to put. It was something about the world not being a bad place or something, but it is bad because of the good people who let the bad happen. Something like that. Sorry.

Usually in bullying situations, there is someone picking on someone for what ever reason. Most of the time, the person being bullied is to frightened to standup for themselves. They let the bullying go on because they are either a) afraid that the person will act worse towards them if they try to stand up to them, and have no one to stand up for them. or b) they are afraid to tell an adult about the situation, because the bullying might get worse.
The person who is being bullied needs help. An upstander is someone who sticks up for the person being bullied, and gets involved (should be peaceful). They care about the person bullied, even if they don't know the person, they will help the bullied person not be bullied anymore.
A bystander is someone who sees whats going on, and doesn't do anything to stop it, or the person doesn't even notice whats going on. They might be afraid to stand up to the bully, because the bully might turn on them, and/or the person just doesn't think they need to be involved. If no one helps the person being bullied, and the person doesn't stand up for themselves, the bullying could get worse. The person being bullied is probably miserable and if things get too bad they might do self harm to themselves, or try to kill themselves which is a horrible thing.
During WW2, Hilter, and Nazi Germany was the bully, and the Jews (etc.), and contries that Germany took over/attacked were the ones being bullied., Many countries were bystanders and didn't do anything to stop the bad things that were happening. But countries like USA were the upstanders. They eventually defeated Germany and it's evil ways. They stood up to the Nazi's even though they weren't killing and sending Americans to Concentration Camps.
People should be upstanders not bystanders.

An upstander is someone who sees the wrong in anything and fights fro what is right to make it better. A bystander is someone who see the wrong in anything but doesn't do anything and keeps on walking. It is important to be an upstander to fight for what is right and help the person(s) that are having trouble. Just think if you were the person and someone else sticking up for u...

First let me define a bystander. A bystander is someone who thinks "What if that were me?"/"I'm glad that isn't me" The think, oh, that's wrong, but they do NOTHING. We are all guilty of it, myself included. What not everyone is is an Upstander. An Upstander is someone who thinks "How can I help?"/"How can I solve this problem/conflict." It is surprisingly hard to be and upstander. Everyone fantasizes being the "knight in shining armor", but few actually do it. This is because humans are social creatures. They decide that if the bully has followers (almost every time), and the victim does't, that the crowd is with the bully, and that in order to be "popular", they must not interfere with the bully and must instead help him/her. The happens everyday, and we don't notice, but the chance to stand up to others is presented all the time, just look for it and it will be their. Don't believe me? Then watch tomorrow, and look me in the eye and tell me that you saw no one, not a soul, being oppressed in some way shape or form by someone else. Just watch.

An upstander is someone willing to do what is right, even in dire situations. A bystander is someone who doesn't interfere. They just stand back and watch. Unfortunately, much of today's society is made up of bystanders, who won't interfere with others unless things start getting bad for them.

A bystander is someone who sees something but chooses not to do anything to help. An upstander is someone who sees something and chooses to help. Most of the time we are bystanders because we don't want to do anything because we think "Better them than me".

An upstander is a person that stands up to something that is wrong. A bystander is a person that just stands there and doesn't do anything about it. Today many people are bystanders, but if we try to stand up for what we believe in and help others we can make the world a better place.

And upstander is a person that "stands up" to a bully. Upstanders are usually very hard to find but they make very good friends. A bystander is a person that is just off to the side of the action not doing anything to prevent or encourage it but let it happen all the same.

An upstander is someone who is very helpful and makes a difference and tries their very hardest to make the situation better. A bystander is someone who sees what is happening and decides not to anything about it or is scared to step out of the crowd to fix the situation.
